The 60-Second Summary

A Local Business With More Than an SEO Problem

When SnowdriftCO began working with Unlock Button, the locksmith company faced challenges throughout its digital presence. Its Google Business Profile had been suspended multiple times, the business did not have a physical office, its website contained significant design and technical problems, and prospective customers had difficulty finding and validating the company online.

SnowdriftCO first addressed the Google compliance issues and helped the business complete Google’s additional advertiser verification process for locksmith companies. We then helped the client establish an appropriate physical office, updated its business information throughout the digital ecosystem and replaced the existing website with a faster, clearer and more conversion-focused platform.

The company now has growing Google Maps visibility, consistent tracked calls and a website designed to turn local search traffic into new business.

The Challenge

The Existing Digital Foundation Was Holding the Business Back

The original goal was to improve local search visibility using the client’s existing website. Our review quickly revealed that several deeper issues were limiting the company’s ability to grow.

Google Compliance Problems

The company’s Google Business Profile had been suspended three times, creating instability in one of the most important lead sources for a local locksmith.

No Physical Office

The business operated virtually without a customer-facing physical location, limiting its ability to establish a strong local presence.

Website and Code Issues

The existing website contained design problems, poor conversion paths and unrelated links that had been hidden within the site’s code.

Limited Digital Authority

The company had very few meaningful backlinks and lacked the broader online footprint needed to support local visibility.

Inconsistent Business Information

The company’s name, address and phone information required cleanup and greater consistency across the internet.

Expensive Paid Leads

Google Ads and Local Services Ads produced high costs, limited conversions and inconsistent lead quality.

Our conclusion: Continuing to apply isolated SEO fixes would not solve the underlying problem. The company’s entire digital foundation needed to be corrected in the right order.
The SnowdriftCO Strategy

Compliance First. Infrastructure Second. Growth Third.

Step 1: Restore Google Eligibility

Our first priority was resolving the violations that prevented the company from maintaining a stable Google Business Profile.

SnowdriftCO reviewed the account, corrected the identified issues and helped restore the listing. We also guided the client through Google’s more intensive advertiser verification requirements for locksmith businesses so the company could become eligible to use Google Ads and Local Services Ads.

The verification process took several months, but the business was ultimately approved.

Step 2: Address the Physical-Location Barrier

Even after the account was restored, the company continued to struggle with local visibility. SnowdriftCO believed that the lack of a legitimate physical office was materially limiting the business’s ability to establish a strong and trustworthy local presence.

We discussed the issue directly with the client and recommended securing an appropriate office location. SnowdriftCO helped the business evaluate the best area for the office, update its Google Business Profile and complete the name and address change.

We also began correcting the company’s name, address and phone information across citations, directories and other online sources.

Step 3: Replace the Existing Website

While attempting to improve the original website, SnowdriftCO continued to encounter technical, design and usability issues. Continuing to repair the existing platform would not produce the level of performance the business needed.

We recommended replacing the site and developed a new website using SnowdriftCO’s preferred website stack.

  • Clearer service information
  • Improved mobile usability
  • Faster access to calls and quote requests
  • Stronger geographic relevance
  • Better technical SEO
  • Clearer conversion paths
  • A more credible and professional presentation
  • Improved compatibility with Google advertising requirements
The company no longer had just a website with a new design. It had a marketing and lead-generation platform built to convert visitors into customers.

Step 4: Expand the Local SEO Program

Once the compliance, location and website issues had been addressed, SnowdriftCO expanded the company’s local SEO strategy.

  • Google Business Profile optimization
  • Local keyword tracking
  • Citation and directory updates
  • Service and location content
  • Technical website improvements
  • Internal linking
  • Local visibility monitoring
  • Call tracking and performance measurement

Step 5: Measure Calls and Business Outcomes

SnowdriftCO implemented call tracking so performance could be measured beyond rankings and website traffic.

Calls originating from both the website and Google Business Profile can now be tracked, allowing the client and SnowdriftCO to evaluate whether increased visibility is producing real business opportunities.

The Results

A Stronger Digital Presence Is Producing Consistent Opportunities

The improved local foundation, new website and ongoing SEO strategy have produced measurable progress across Google Maps, organic search and tracked calls.

Google Maps Visibility

The business reached a 31% Google Maps visibility score, representing an increase of 26 percentage points during the reporting period.

  • 40 of 47 monitored keywords were ranking in Google Maps.
  • 40 keywords improved in position.
  • Four keywords ranked in positions 1–3.
  • Seventeen keywords ranked in positions 4–6.
  • Only three monitored keywords declined.

The company also reached the number-one position at the center of its Local Falcon scan for the broad search term “locksmith.”

Additional gains occurred for searches including locksmith near me, emergency locksmith, commercial locksmith, residential locksmith, car key replacement, smart lock installation, key duplication and key fob programming.

106 Tracked Calls

From January 1 through July 12, 2026, the company generated 106 tracked calls through its website and Google Business Profile.

The reporting shows a more consistent pattern of incoming calls as the company’s local presence and search visibility strengthened.

Add the CallRail graph showing 106 tracked calls directly below this section.

Business Impact

The client reports closing approximately four to six qualified business opportunities per month.

According to the client, the resulting business is covering the agency investment while also generating additional revenue. This has created a healthier foundation from which the company can continue reinvesting in SEO and expanding its digital footprint.

Paid Advertising

Why We Chose Not to Keep Spending Aggressively on PPC and LSAs

Google Ads and Local Services Ads were explored earlier in the engagement, but the campaigns were not yet producing the return the business needed.

Cost per click and cost per lead were high, conversion rates were limited and the quality of Local Services Ads leads was inconsistent.

SnowdriftCO believed that the company’s weak organic footprint and limited local visibility also made it more difficult for prospective customers to validate the business after encountering an advertisement.

Rather than continuing to spend aggressively on underperforming paid channels, we recommended strengthening the company’s organic foundation first.

As the business becomes healthier and local visibility continues to improve, Google Ads and Local Services Ads can be reconsidered from a much stronger position.

Why It Worked

The Breakthrough Did Not Come From One SEO Tactic

The improvement did not come from changing a few title tags or publishing a handful of pages.

It came from identifying and correcting the complete digital foundation:

  • Google compliance
  • Advertiser verification
  • Physical-location strategy
  • Business-information consistency
  • Website credibility
  • Technical performance
  • Conversion-focused design
  • Local search visibility
  • Call tracking
  • Business-outcome measurement
SnowdriftCO approached the engagement as a business-growth problem—not simply a website or keyword problem.
The Takeaway

What Other Service-Based Businesses Can Learn

A local service company can have an attractive website and still struggle to generate business.

Search visibility depends on how the entire digital ecosystem works together. Google compliance, physical location, online listings, website structure, customer trust and conversion paths all influence whether a prospective customer finds the business and decides to make contact.

This case demonstrates why local SEO should not be treated as a disconnected list of monthly tasks. The strongest results come from diagnosing the underlying barriers, correcting them in the right order and building a digital platform capable of supporting long-term growth.
